Defining Freedom > Freedom of Petition > Answer to Question 1

Yes.
Telling Congress or the President about your concerns is the most traditional form of petition.

Elected officials such as members of Congress and the President are elected to represent the will of the people. By writing a letter and voicing our concerns, we are playing an important role in democracy. Letters are one of the ways elected officials hear our thoughts, which help them make decisions on how to vote on important issues.
